〔即時新聞／綜合報導〕美國紐約曼哈頓當地時間31日下午發生卡車衝撞路人造成8死15傷的慘劇，目前警方已將這起事件定調為恐怖攻擊，而對於上任以來發生首起國內恐攻事件，總統川普則是大為火光。
綜合外媒報導，紐約市長白思豪（Bill de Blasio）將這起攻擊稱為「恐怖行動」，而川普則是在推特上譴責這起事件，「看來紐約市被另一個病態的危險人物攻擊了。執法單位已密切關注此事，這種事情不應在美國發生！」而相隔一小時後，川普又發另一則推文，「在中東與其他地區打敗伊斯蘭國（ISIS）之後，我們絕不能讓他們回歸和進入國內。」
就在10月初，伊斯蘭國失去位在敘利亞的首都及大部分的占領區，當時外界就憂心，伊斯蘭國的聖戰士恐流竄至各國境內，發動新一波恐怖攻擊。不過就美國警方調查，尚未調查出卡車攻擊事件的嫌犯與伊斯蘭國間的關連。
